Chartreuse, Sangria and a Grand Entrance: Julia & Dylan’s Garden Party at Bishop Station
Italian, rustic and intimate, Julia and Dylan’s wedding turned Bishop Station into a chartreuse and sangria garden party.
Julia is an artist, and she filled her wedding day with nods to her Italian heritage and touches of her own artwork. She made almost every detail herself, including the save-the-dates and invitations, the stained glass table numbers and welcome sign, and the clay planters filled with flowers and fruit that held the seating chart and bar signs. Each guest’s wine glass got a personalized bow, and the coozies carried her drawings of the Atlanta skyline. She took DIY to the next level, but is it really DIY if the bride is an artist?
The ceremony took place in the venue’s brick courtyard, where greenery grew on the walls and bistro lights hung overhead. As an actor in her youth, Julia wanted a dramatic entrance. She waited behind pear green velvet draping, and at the timed moment in the song her brother Michael wrote for her, the drapes opened and she stepped through.
The green velvet draping didn’t leave when the ceremony ended. The fabric moved inside to become the backdrop for the sweetheart table, tying the two spaces together. Moss, fruit and an abundance of greenery hung from the ceiling, while printed linens created a layered, garden-party look. Dinner stayed true to the Italian theme with a live pasta bar from Gathering Board, where guests had their pasta made to order in a hot cheese wheel. An espresso bar and deconstructed tiramisu followed.
The party kept going after the official reception ended. Julia slipped away and returned in a mini dress with a fresh haircut, a surprise for Dylan, and guests headed to the after-party, where a Waffle House food truck was waiting.
Guests left impressed, and it’s easy to see why. From the first drawing of the drapes to the last wave from the getaway Fiat, every moment of Julia and Dylan’s day carried her creative stamp.
