Classic Charm & Dawg Pride: Chelsey & Tyler’s Stanley House Wedding
What starts as a study abroad crush can sometimes take years to find its moment, but for Chelsey and Tyler, the timing was ultimately perfect.
The couple first crossed paths while studying Consumer Economics at the University of Georgia. Chelsey developed a crush during a summer program in London, but with Tyler already in a relationship, they kept things strictly friendly, staying in touch throughout college. It wasn’t until two years later, when both found themselves single, that they finally went on their first date. Fast forward to a crisp November evening on Amelia Island: while walking their miniature dachshund, Scout, along the shore, a nervous and giggly Tyler popped the question and wedding planning began.
When planning their wedding day, finding the right venue was simple. The Stanley House offered a perfect mix of historic elegance and cozy hospitality. Renting out the entire bed and breakfast allowed family and close friends to stay on-site, making the weekend feel like an intimate getaway. Because the venue possessed such timeless character on its own, the couple focused on intentional details: timeless white and green florals, stone table numbers handmade by Tyler, and custom favors like branded matchbooks and cigars.
The ceremony took place on the venue’s covered outdoor patio, framed by lush ivy, modern chandeliers and a softly draped cream fabric backdrop. Bringing some puppy love to the aisle, Scout served as the Pup of Honor, trotting down to join his parents at the altar.
After exchanging vows, the newlyweds took a quiet approach to their dinner, opting to dine together at their sweetheart table for a rare, cherished moment to absorb the day before the party kicked into high gear. Following heartwarming speeches from both of their fathers, the tone shifted from sentimental to high-energy.
Paying homage to their Alma Mater, the couple unveiled an espresso martini ice luge sculpted in the shape of Uga, the Georgia bulldog mascot. With custom sunglasses on, guests rocked the dance floor, chanting the Georgia fight song late into the night. It was a day built on patience, personal touches and an unforgettable celebration of where their story first began.
