An Illustrated Love Story: Inside Jillian & Mike’s Fox Theatre Celebration
For Jillian and Mike, life centers on simple, shared pleasures. As avid equestrians, they spend much of their free time at the barn, finding quiet grounding outdoors alongside their horses. But when they aren’t in the stalls or curled up on the couch for a fantasy series marathon, they love the energy of the city, indulging in activities like sharing and Italian meal, exploring local street fairs and catching live shows at The Fox.
When it came time to pick a venue, Atlanta’s Fox Theatre was an easy choice. Embracing its grand Art Deco architecture, gilded ceilings and moody interior, Jillian and Mike set out to create a night that felt large in scale yet rooted in who they are.
To balance the theatre’s ornate drama, the couple introduced a light, airy palette of champagne, soft greens, blush pinks and lavender. Florist Kirk Whitfield brought organic movement into the gilded space with lush, garden-style arrangements of roses, hydrangeas and seasonal blooms, softening the venue’s rich history with fresh air.
The personal touches began long before guests arrived at the theatre. The bride’s sister, Farley, owner of The White Dog Design Co., wove Jillian and Mike’s unique story through custom paper goods. The invitation suite was wrapped in custom toile vellum featuring delicate illustrations of the couple’s favorite Atlanta spots alongside nods to their life together. Farley carried this theme seamlessly into the reception: instead of traditional table numbers, guests found their seats via illustrated local landmarks, dining at tables named after city staples like the High Museum of Art, World of Coca-Cola, Zoo Atlanta and The Varsity.
From early mornings at the barn to a full-on celebration beneath marquee lights, the entire event brought together architectural drama, soft color and the specific pieces of Atlanta that made the couple fall in love with the city in the first place.
