Pretty in Pastel: Kaylan & Lamar’s Historic DeKalb Courthouse Wedding
Kaylan and Lamar’s journey began with a chance encounter and culminated in a dreamy pastel wedding at the Historic DeKalb Courthouse.
Kaylan and Lamar’s love story gradually developed over time. They first met at a community service event organized by their respective Greek life organizations (Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity). At the event, they exchanged only glances, both hesitant to pursue the other. However, Lamar’s determination eventually led to a connection on social media. They started having daily conversations that evolved into a friendship that was destined to last a lifetime.
Lamar was born in Louisiana, while Kaylan is a native of Georgia. When Kaylan dreamed of her wedding day, she knew that regardless of where she lived, she wanted to get married in her home state. In addition to a Georgia location, the couple also sought a venue with rich historical significance and simple elegance. Ultimately, the Historic DeKalb Courthouse was the ideal choice for their celebration, with its grand columns, high ceilings, large windows and marble floors providing a stunning backdrop. Not only does the venue have a stunning atmosphere, but it also is conveniently located across the street from two hotels, which makes it an excellent choice for out-of-town guests. Additionally, Parker’s on Ponce, a nearby restaurant, allowed the couple to host a rehearsal dinner within walking distance of the wedding venue.
The couple’s wedding was held on a picturesque summer day. The fresh and festive event was characterized by a soft color scheme of cream, blush and dusty blue. With opulent floral arrangements by Le Bam Studio and gold accents in the decor, the atmosphere was full of sweet warmth. While the ceremony was emotional and charming, the reception brought a vibrant and upbeat energy. With a fog-filled dance floor, the couple shared their first dance with sparklers aglow. After the traditional first dances, cake cutting and garter toss, Kaylan wowed everyone by changing into a mirror mosaic reception dress by Portia and Scarlett. Then the party really got started!
From the venue’s historic beauty to the overall theme of simple elegance, Kaylan and Lamar’s Historic DeKalb Courthouse wedding was certainly a breathtaking affair.
