Annica & Nicholas’ Intimate Romantic Wedding
Although Nicholas and Annica went to high school together, it wasn’t until they connected again years later through mutual friends that they went on a date and fell “in love at first sight,” according to Annica. Nick’s initial plan to propose in front of family and friends in March of 2020 was foiled by lockdowns surrounding the global health crisis. Instead, he opted for an intimate, home proposal, spelling out “Will you marry” in Scrabble tiles on their kitchen floor and standing in place next to them as the “me.”
The couple planned a “whimsical, romantic wedding,” exchanging their vows before 40 of their closest family and friends in November of 2020 (on the bride’s birthday!), livestreaming the ceremony to those who could not attend in person. Annica opted for a couture gown in ice blue, and her veil was custom-made by her 91-year- old grandmother. Nick wore a custom blue suit with maroon accents to complement the wedding colors of rose gold, maroon, blush and ivory. The bridesmaids wore dresses in a shade of mauve and proceeded down an aisle strewn with rose petals.
The wedding was a true family affair, with the groom’s aunt providing the evening’s meal and the bride’s aunts providing both the wedding cake and the hors d’oeuvres. Nick’s brother served as DJ for the party after the meal, drawing everyone onto the dance floor. As a finale, Nick and Annica exited through a tunnel of sparklers that left guests in awe. Annica says she wouldn’t have changed anything about their wedding: “In the middle of a global pandemic, we found eternal happiness.”
