An Otherworldly and Artful Wedding for Joey & Ryan at Guardian Works
When Joey and Ryan set out to plan their wedding, they envisioned a blend of “otherworldly minimalism,” artful design and just a touch of the cosmos. Hosted at Guardian Works, an industrial-chic former perfume factory, their celebration balanced modernity with playful creativity, making for an unforgettable experience.
Their celebration was a feast for the senses, starting with a ceremony space full of showstopping decor: a hanging dragon’s tail of floral greenery, floating Kokedama moss balls and an aisle aglow with candlelight. When the ceremony began, The Mad Violinist played romantic violin renditions; Joey entered to Justin Bieber’s “Peaches,” while Ryan followed to Kanye West’s “Flashing Lights.”
After exchanging vows, custom Tip Top Cocktails cans (designed by Paper Phoenix) served as seating cards and keepsakes. Dinner, crafted by Bold Catering, featured a standout three-course menu culminating in a reimagined cheese plate dessert. Syndesi Desserts elevated the experience further with a multi-flavor wedding cake: one part ube cake with cookies and cream and salted caramel filling, and the other Earl Grey cake with passion fruit filling.
The reception carried the couple’s imaginative vision into the night. Beneath metallic, disco ball-esque inflatables and on a sleek black dance floor, drag artist Aspen York electrified the crowd with a performance, kicking off a high-energy evening of dancing and celebration.
Joey and Ryan’s story — from meeting on a dating app to an engagement road trip documented across eight states — was appropriately celebrated in style. Intimate yet full of life, the couple’s wedding was a day where their passions and personalities truly shone.
