When Amanda and Trent both separately decided to put their careers on pause and attend the full-time MBA program at Emory’s Goizueta Business School, they knew it would be a life-changing journey. It was a chance to better themselves, jumpstart their respective careers, and meet new people. Some also say it’s the world’s most expensive dating service…but regardless of what their preconceived notions about business school were, neither could have foreseen all that would come from those two years.
Amanda and Trent met the very first day of Goizueta Business School MBA orientation. Here, the class received section and core team assignments. In the program, students get placed in teams of 5-6 for the first semester of core classes. In what is considered the toughest time period of the program, the groups complete assignments and projects together. The two ended up on the same core team, meaning they’d be spending a lot of time together. For two months, they saw each other just about every day, settling into a routine of meeting in the common area every morning before class. One class happy hour, Amanda asked Trent to hang out that Saturday for a day of watching college football. A Georgia and Clemson victory later, they both admitted what each suspected: that they really liked each other and– despite the grind of school and recruiting–really enjoyed spending time together.

After successfully meeting each other’s family, traveling abroad, moving in together, quarantine, graduating, and a new puppy, Amanda said, “yes!” Trent popped the question on July 30, 2021, three years to the day they first met at Goizueta Business School. The two were on vacation in Charleston, South Carolina, a place they had traveled to quite a few times before and meant a lot to both of them. On their first morning in Charleston, Trent got down on one knee and popped the question during a 7 AM run on Sullivan’s Island! After Facetiming family and friends, the couple spent the rest of the trip celebrating the beginning of their engagement.
Amanda and Trent are getting married at Flint Hill in Norcross, Georgia. They both wanted a venue with an outdoor ceremony space and large indoor reception space and the beautiful historic home checked all the boxes. Some of their other vendors include Two Chics Photography, Artistry by Shannon, Atlanta Wedding Band, A Divine Event, Strike a Pose Atlanta, and Wedding Angels Bridal Boutique. They can’t wait to celebrate with their close family and friends!
