Dinosaurs & Disco: Chloe & Mark’s Fernbank Museum Wedding
Growing up in a family that loved museum visits, Chloe always dreamed of getting married surrounded by exhibits and artifacts. But it wasn’t until she started venue hunting that she realized this childhood fantasy could actually become reality. The Fernbank Museum of Natural History, with its life-size Argentinosaurus and Giganotosaurus dinosaurs looming over the Great Hall, offered a dream-come-true setting. The venue offered just the right amount of Jurassic Park vibes and a nod to all those hours she’d spent “nerding out” at natural history museums with her family.
For Chloe and Mark, a lighthearted and adventurous couple, the venue was only the start. Their wedding aesthetic needed to match their energy, so they began with an unexpected combination: 1970s disco paired with the sleek minimalism of the 1990s. They loved the vibrancy of disco culture, but refined the vision to fit into a summer wedding lens.
To bring this niche concept to life, they turned to planner and designer Karen Landis of Pop + Fizz. Landis designed color-blocked concepts throughout, all crescendoing around a funky, completely custom dance floor. And in true disco fashion, the couple wanted their reception to be a real party. To get guests excited and mingling, they included a “Dance Card” seating chart that encouraged people to plan their evening dances during cocktail hour.
Every detail showcased Chloe and Mark’s playful personalities — from the “Cosmo, Bean & Toast Bar” named after their pets to the couple lip-syncing to Britney Spears on a dance floor framed by prehistoric bones and mirror balls. Talk about a night that’ll go down in history!
