All the Wedding Vibes at the 2024 Oscars Award Show
While Hollywood’s biggest night, the Oscars, is all about captivating performances on the silver screen, the stars’ fashion statements undeniably take center stage. Last year, we saw a lot of overtly wedding-inspired looks, but this year’s 96th Academy Awards ceremony gave more subtle nods to the aisle. As stars graced the Oscars red carpet and then the ever-fashion-forward Vanity Fair Oscar Party, we couldn’t help but take note of some styles that gave ultra wedding vibes.
Check out our favorite wedding-inspired looks from the 2024 Oscars to get inspired for your special day! From sparkling details to unique suits, there’s something for everyone.
The Gowns
Anya Taylor Joy in Dior Couture
Dior’s famed Venus gown saw a modern reimagination on award-presenter Anya Taylor Joy. Referenced time and time again on red carpets, this archival Dior look never misses. With a strapless bodice and embellished petals, Anya Taylor Joy is breathtaking in silver.
Jennifer Lawrence in Givenchy Couture
The Bridgerton/Pride & Prejudice influence, plus floral appliques, makes this Givenchy look scream femininity and grace. The former Best Actress winner, Jennifer Lawrence, looked ethereal and romantic when arriving at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in this sheer frock.
Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton
Winner of Actress in a Leading Role for “Poor Things,” Emma Stone shows that pale pastels are the new white. We haven’t seen a statement peplum waist in a while, but this Louis Vuitton on the brand’s House Ambassador has us ready to give this trend another life.
Julianne Hough in Alexandre Vauthier
Bridal on the bottom, party on the top! For nearlyweds who can’t decide between unconventional and traditional wedding looks, something like Julianne Hough’s red carpet look might be the right middle ground. The Oscars pre-show host wore an Alexandre Vauthier jumpsuit (yes, those are ultra-wide-leg pants on the bottom) that we could see being stylish and comfortable all wedding day long.
Sydney Sweeney in Marc Bouwer
Vintage and archival bridal looks are always welcome. Sydney Sweeney’s archival Marc Bouwer gown (first seen on Angelina Jolie at the 2004 Oscars) exuded Old Hollywood glamour, which we love for this upcoming wedding season.
Kirsten Dunst in Gucci
Pop a veil on this look, and you have a quintessential bridal ensemble. Former Best Supporting Actress nominee Kirsten Dunst kept her red carpet look simple, donning a custom Gucci column dress wit ha straight neckline and delicate straps.
Lily Rabe in Marc Jacobs
At the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, vintage fashion struck again with actress Lily Rabe’s 2006 Marc Jacobs gown, sourced by Aralda Vintage. The delicate, tiered floral dress has us dreaming of a beautiful summer boho garden wedding.
Paris Hilton in Sabina Bilenko
Socialite and businesswoman Paris Hilton has always brought the heat on the red carpet. This couture Sabina Bilenko gown on her is no different! The silhouette is classically bridal, but the dripping embellishments and “nearly nude” look provide the ultra-glam vibe so many couples are looking for this wedding season.
Charlize Theron in Dior
Former Best Actress winner Charlize Theron was a classic beauty in this twisted silk Dior gown. The gown looked like liquid, beautifully draped across the actor’s body, exemplifying that sometimes simplicity provides the biggest impact.
Alexandra Daddario in Alexis Mabille
Alexandra Daddario’s 2022 French Quarter wedding made waves online, as many loved her Danielle Frankel gown and jazzy New Orleans vibe. So it’s no surprise that she continues to stun in bridal-influenced gowns! This Alexis Mabille gown was paired with a bold red lip and a sleek, slicked-back bun for a perfect modern vibe.
Ellie Goulding in Zuhair Murad
Musician Ellie Goulding loves wearing white/cream looks at formal events, so we knew we could count on her for a bridal look here! Her Vanity Fair Oscars Party look by Zuhair Murad consisted of a macramé high-neck halter dress with delicate beading paired with a relaxed yet polished hair up-do. We’d recommend a skin-tone lining for the aisle, but otherwise, this look is simply stunning.
Ashley Yi in Waad Aloqaili
Social Media content creator Ashley Yi wore perhaps the most overtly bridal look of the night. Designed by Saudi Arabian label Waad Aloqaili, her dress featured a high boat neck, embellished hem and a dramatic ruffle-trim train. From the train draped as a shawl to the dramatic jewelry by Norman Silverman and David Yurman, there’s not a single detail we’d change here.
The Suiting
Sterling K. Brown in Dior Men
Best Supporting Actor nominee for “American Fiction” Sterling K. Brown looked as handsome as ever in Kim Jones’ Dior Men. The custom Dior Oblique navy and black shawl collar tuxedo added a touch of personality with the satin shawl drape detail. Add in the vintage 1919 Boucheron brooch and an IWC Schaffhausen timepiece, and you’ve got a dapper look.
Scott Evans in AMIRI
Who says you can’t pair a dramatic train with a suit? Access Hollywood host Scott Evans took suiting to a new level with this periwinkle jacket and silky train. As if the train blouse wasn’t stylish enough, we love the white trousers and boots – such a statement!
Greta Gerwig in YSL
Le Smoking—an iconic women’s suit created in 1966 by Yves Saint Laurent—never goes out of style. “Barbie” director and nominee for Best Adapted Screenplay Greta Gerwig exchanged her sparkling ceremony dress for a masculine-inspired suit at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party. This quintessential YSL ensemble was completed with sparkling jewelry by Boucheron.
Bradley Cooper in Custom Louis Vuitton
On the red carpet, celebrities have long sought ways to jazz up the classic tuxedo. And Bradley Cooper’s custom Louis Vuitton tuxedo does just that, adding some drama while remaining classic and timeless. We love the flared trousers and turquoise tuxedo studs so much that we don’t even mind there not being a tie!
John Krasinski in Brioni
Give us a groom in a cream tuxedo any day and we will be happy! John Krasinski, actor and husband to Best Supporting Actress nominee Emily Blunt, wore a creme Brioni tuxedo with a statement Tiffany & Co broach. We are all for broaches becoming the new boutonniere!
Celine Song In Loewe
Celine Song, director of “Past Lives” and Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay nominee, wore an incredible LOEWE ensemble to the awards show. The navy and black double-breasted tuxedo jacket was paired with a layered skirt and made complete with chunky penny loafers. We love how this look could translate onto marriers of any gender, providing equal parts traditional apparel and modern edge.
The Reception Look
Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton
Best Actress winner Emma Stone hit the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in Louis Vuitton. Reflective mirror embellishments are just begging to become their own disco ball on the reception dance floor! Take into account the loose fit and sultry leg slit, and you’ve got a recipe for after-party merriment.
Lupita Nyong’o in Armani Privé
On the 10th anniversary of her monumental Oscar win, Lupita Nyong’o paid homage to herself with this pastel Armani Privé look. Notably, the actor wore a similar colored Prada dress to the 2014 Oscars, in which she took home the award for Best Supporting Actress. Nyong’o has consistently made waves for her impeccable styling, and we love the idea of adding nods to your own iconic fashions on your wedding day.
Ryan Gosling In Gucci
How’s this for a rockin’ reception look? Best supporting actor and nominee Ryan Gosling wore a Gucci suit with subtle metallic piping for just the right amount of punch. Many newlyweds end up taking their ties off anyway at the after party, so they might as well build it into the look intentionally!
Saweetie in Tony Ward Couture
Saweetie gave “Richtivities” in this sparkling, nearly nude Tony Ward gown. The custom-made Tony Ward Couture dress stood out with playful, sprawling embroidery threads, but the look really came to life thanks to the stacks and stacks of Azature diamonds. If you can’t decide what jewelry to wear on your wedding day, why not wear it all?
Lindsay Lohan in Balenciaga
We’ve been loving metallic party looks for reception outfit changes, and “Mean Girls” actor Lindsay Lohan hit the mark with this rendition. This Balenciaga gown, with its flapper-style layers of sequined fringe, nodded to the roaring ’20s. Yet another example of the Old Hollywood glamour resurgence!
Reneé Rapp in Mônot
Not all reception/after-party looks need to be glittery and glamorous. Musician Reneé Rapp showed up the the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in a gown interpretation of a classic oxford shirt. Imagine enjoying some post-wedding fast food on the dancefloor with this stylish but comfortable piece!
Danielle Brooks in Yousef Al Jasmi
Best Supporting Actress nominee Danielle Brooks glowed in this fitted Yousef Al Jasmi gown paired with a LarAllan handbag. To pull the look together, she drew eyes back up to her face with a statement diamond chain chocker necklace by Pomellato. We love the idea of incorporating unconventional fine jewelry into your reception ensemble. The bonus is that you can wear it beyond your wedding day!
Greta Lee in Loewe
“Past Lives” star Greta Lee’s Vanity Fair Oscars Party look beautifully showcases the fair pastel and silky Old Hollywood trends. The LOEWE silk satin dress featured a jade doughnut chain trim on the halter neck, adding unexpected texture.
Becky G in David Koma
Two-piece bridal looks are all the rage. This David Koma ensemble on singer Becky G has all the hallmarks of a perfect wedding look: bia-cut silk, delicate lace and feminine bows. Cute!
