Lush Garden Wedding Turned Inspirational Rainy Day Celebration
This wedding held a special place in my heart from start to finish. I’ve known the bride her entire life, a friend that’s really family, it was an absolute honor to plan and design her wedding day with Brie Owens. The details were all stunning and represented the bride’s love for peach, pink, romance and lush florals by Martha McIntosh, who exceeds expectations every time. Dominic and Catherine were careful to intertwine details that reflected their love story, starting with the selection of the Botanical Gardens, where they had their first date. GA Tech alum, the groom’s cake had to be a replica of the Ramblin Wreck, which also tied into their hashtag, #ramblinreineckers. But, beyond the details, it was the heart behind this wedding that Michelle captured so perfectly. The wedding day started out with perfect weather and allowed us to capture all the details, joy and beautiful gardens. However, as the ceremony started a down pour sent the guests and wedding party seeking cover. Luckily, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens has the best rain plan ever, with a large indoor space for a ceremony. Honestly, as the planner, I was in denial that the ceremony wouldn’t happen outside. I thought the storm would pass, but Brie quickly informed me that it was only going to get worse, snapping us all into reality. But then, the most beautiful thing ever happened. The couple’s friends hauled the gorgeous iron gate, draped in florals inside, the guests parted, creating an aisle, and Catherine walked in with her dad, ready to marry the love of her life. In that moment, I couldn’t help but be inspired by the obvious love and joy that filled that room and Catherine’s face. I think she may have been the happiest bride I’ve ever seen walk down the aisle. It was perfectly imperfect, a true testament to eternal love and marriage. Brie and I will never forget this special day.
