Deepa & Thomas’ Ruby, Emerald & Gold Hindu Wedding at Château Élan
A Tamilian wedding inspired by the beauty and traditions of Kerala, India, Thomas (“Tom”) and Deepa’s fusion wedding was grounded with South Indian tradition yet completely their own.
When it came to choosing a wedding location, Château Élan made for the ideal venue. Deepa spent her childhood in Northern California, surrounded by rolling vineyards and golden light, but her parents now call Atlanta home. Château Élan’s elegant winery setting bridged both worlds — evoking the landscapes of her upbringing while welcoming guests with the warmth of the South. Its blend of rustic charm and refined luxury created the perfect setting for a celebration built around the joining of cultures.
Accented with gold and steeped in shades of red, green and white, Château Élan’s Glasstop Atrium transformed into a South Indian dreamscape. Planner RHS Events crafted a design that intertwined the traditions Deepa grew up with and the contemporary aesthetic she loves today. As guests entered the Hindu ceremony, they were met with golden light pouring through the atrium ceiling, jasmine and orchids cascading overhead and a mandap glowing with brass lamps and lush florals.
After the morning ceremony, guests gathered for a thali lunch, with golden platters filled with South Indian favorites: Avial, lemon rice, and sweet payasam. Live sitar music floated through the room while friends and family soaked up the moving Hindu ceremony they just witnessed. Sacred and joyful, Deepa and Tom’s celebration offered a rare pause from fast, Excel-filled days — a moment for two Manhattan finance professionals to honor not only their union, but the cultures that shaped them.
