A New Years Eve Soirée
Felicia’s vision for her wedding to Christopher was modern and mysterious with a hint of glam and a New Year’s grand finale. Throughout their five years together, Felicia and Christopher always made it a priority to ring in the New Year abroad. From Nashville to New Orleans to Las Vegas and more, it only seemed fitting to spend their most recent New Year’s celebration saying, “I do.” Felicia’s ambition was to always ensure guests were not only attending her wedding, but experiencing it.
As guests turned the corner to embrace the Couto wedding, they were greeted by a 20-foot-long, draped tunnel. As they journeyed under the chandeliers and made their way to the entrance of the ballroom, they were met by a free standing, full length mirror reading, “I love her and that’s the beginning and end of everything.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald. Overtook by the feeling of love, guests entered the ballroom and took their seat under the floral chandelier. They were surrounded by not only candlelight and drapery but their ears were filled from the sounds of the string quartet eloquently playing behind their crystal drape.
As they exited the ceremony and entered the terrace for cocktail hour, they were met by a six-foot tall tree carrying crystal strands and wrapped in white floral. Hanging from each crystal strand was a small, acrylic diamond engraved with each guest’s name and table assignment. Behind the tree stood two silver, human butterflies who moved so elegantly their silk wings looked like a scarf gliding in the wind on a breezy afternoon. Starlight projections, white floral, and modern furniture set the ambiance as guests mingled and waited for the bride and groom to make their entrance through a tunnel of sparklers. Two satellite bars, each backed by tall green hedges, housed a signature drink. Christopher, born in August, was represented by “The Spicy Leo” a spiced up Bloody Mary and Felicia, born in June, was symbolized by “The Pretty Pincher,” a vodka and pineapple drink with a hint of coconut rum and basil.
As the adventure continued and guests returned to the ballroom, they unexpectedly found themselves standing in a room full of cloud-like, white floral, hues of blues and shades of blush. Little did guests know that as they watched Felicia and Chris say “I do” they were seated over the dance floor. During cocktail hour, the ceremony drapery and seating had been removed revealing a fully decorated reception space. Twelve-foot-long runners of hydrangea laid atop the King’s tables and draped to the floor on either side. Crystal prisms hung from the already existing chandeliers and tall, glass vessels housed an array of greenery, white hydrangea, and ivory and blush floral. On the cushions of the white Chiavari chairs, laid mysterious, white mascaraed masks that filled guests full of anticipation for what was yet to come.
Above the dance floor were six balloons that were scheduled to pop at midnight. 5-4-3-2-1, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Suddenly, as they were dancing and chanting, guests were surrounded by fluttering confetti and floating balloons. As 2016 turned to 2017, Felicia and Christopher embraced each other and once again created the memory of an unforgettable New Year’s.
