An Eclectic & Scottish Wedding for Stokes & Max
Stokes and Max’s wedding was a beautiful blend of modern and vintage elements, creating a day that was both deeply reverent and whimsically playful—perfectly reflecting the eclectic couple. Held at The Brickyard in Marietta, their celebration was filled with sentimental touches and meaningful moments. Max and Stokes first met years ago in their church’s youth group. Their paths crossed again as adults, and what started as a friendship soon blossomed into love. They began dating in March 2021 and quickly realized they were meant for each other. Max proposed in December 2021, and the couple embarked on a 22-month engagement, meticulously planning every detail of their special day.
Stokes and Max’s wedding ceremony took place at Saint Catherine of Siena, a parish that has been a significant part of Stokes’ family life. The church community warmly welcomed Max and Stokes over the past few years as they integrated into the parish. The ceremony was a heartfelt affair, rich with personal and spiritual significance for the couple.
Sentimental moments abounded at Stokes and Max’s reception, as well. The reception venue, The Brickyard, is a charming event venue in Marietta, but before it was a beloved venue, it was a tire shop owned by Stokes’s great-grandparents in the 1930s. The industrial setting was beautifully adorned with magnolia leaves sourced from the family’s historic home on Kennesaw Avenue, where the bride’s portraits were also taken.
Family heirloom pieces played a significant role in the wedding decor. Of note, Stokes’ veil and the couple’s rings were treasured family items, adding a layer of history and sentimentality to the day. Additionally, the couple honored their Scottish heritage with a bagpiper-led procession, infusing the celebration with cultural tradition.
One of the most touching moments of the reception was the father-daughter dance. Stokes and her father danced to a song he wrote and recorded especially for her, creating a memory that will be cherished forever.
From the couple’s heirloom rings to Max’s traditional Scottish kilt, this eclectic couple’s wedding was a sentimental, authentic, and vibrant celebration.
